Malaysia

Malaysia, Malaysia history, Malaysia hotels, Malaysia photos.

-Malaysia has two parts, west Malaysia and east Malaysia

and is facing the South China Sea at the East Coast of Malaysia and Borneo plus the Indian Ocean at the west coast of the Malaysian peninsular. The Malaysian part of Borneo is also known as Sabah and Sarawak.

Malaysia is a multiethnic Asian society especially in the big cities and such as Georgetown Malaysia at Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
Holiday and vacation in Malaysia go under the slogan, "Malaysia truly Asia" and that's quite correct since you can find lots of different ethic groups in Malaysia. Like Chinese, Indian, Sri Lanka, Bangladeshi, Arabs, Europeans and so on.

Malaysia and in particular Kuala Lumpur and Penang has great hotels just right for tourism Malaysia. A very interesting hotel is Hotel Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur China Town. The Hotel Malaysia is in the center of Kuala Lumpur China Town with great nightlife enjoyment and shopping at Petaling Street. Petaling street is somehow like Patpong in Bangkok, but without go-go bars. A Malaysian and actually Penang hotel with a great colonial style flair is the Eastern & Oriental Hotel in Georgetown, there almost everything is still colonial style.

In recent years Malaysia became a outdoor vacation destination. You can climb high mountains, Sabah is famous for, have a several day river cruise into the Borneo jungle on the Rajang River in Sarawak. Enjoy one o greatest national park in central Malaysia, easily reachable from Penang and Kuala Lumpur, its Taman Negara National Park and explore exotic Asian traditions in both parts of Malaysia. Such as Sibu (a old Chinese settlement) in Sarawak and Malacca on the Malaysian peninsular.

The infrastructure for your Malaysia Tour is very good. Malaysia

airlines,  Air Asia, Firefly and some other small airlines bring you to anywhere in Malaysia, Asia and worldwide, its ready for Malaysia business. But be careful with Air Asia, they are the champions in delays. They even make big banners that if one experience delays they do all kind of compensation, if you experience the delay, usually at a ticket counter and by the hours with the airplane departure, they tell you they have other things to do.

If you travel Kuala Lumpur and use a taxi you will find out that most of the taxi drivers are of Indian origin and they are the worst in south east Asia, even beating the legendary Thai taxi driver in Bangkok and the lowest of the bottom in Manila. KL taxi driver etc. come below that, this is not bla bla, this is bad experience over years.

-There is the relatively new Kuala Lumpur International Airport

just about a half hour train or car ride out of KL, KL stands for Kuala Lumpur and is widely used in Malaysia. The KL airport is a great piece of architecture designed by a Japanese design company.

-Malaysian History

started well before the first Portuguese settled at Malacca, known as Melaka in Malaysian language. In 1511, Alfonso de Albuquerque a Portuguese who was the ruler of Portuguese India, the area around today Goa, came to conquer Malacca with about 1000 men and 14 ships. After some back and forward fighting he sacked Malacca and the local Sultan who had a army of about 20.000 men, fled.

-Malaysia and Islam

In the last decade the trend to Islam became more and more visible, huge Mosques are built everywhere and already young schoolgirls are ordered to cover the head and wear long dresses. When I was in Malaysia first time in the 197x I could hardly see even one female person covering her head, even at the west Malaysia east coast, a strong hold of dedicated Malaysian Muslims. Time is changing lots of Arab money poured into Malaysia and Islam became visible more and more.
Malaysia is a country with open minded people and very accessible. Since years welcoming tourists and before somehow pulled slightly over by the British colonialists who grabbed Penang in the 18 th. Century and took over Malaya. After WW2 Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei emerged as

independent countries out of this constellation.

More or less within one century Malaysia
made a transition from a society of fisherman, farmers, headhunters, Chinese traders, British rubber barons and Indian workers into a modern society who shows to the world the Petronas Twin Towers and the Formula One Grand Prix at Sepang close to Kuala Lumpur International Airport -among others-.

Malacca is just about half way between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and is good connected for a Malaysia travel tour, by car, train and bus, bus is quite cheap. From Kuala Lumpur to the north is a good 4 lane toll way connecting Malaysia to Thailand via Ipoh and Penang, actually its Butterworth since Penang is the Island off Butterworth connected by a the great Penang Bridge.
